My position is further complicated by the burden of having to deal with Core Storage (Fusion Drive and encrypted Time Machine) which requires several things copying from the logical volumes to the hidden boot partitions of every physical partition just to attempt a boot. When there is more shared knowledge available for Haswell-based systems, I will go the extra mile and try the whole lot again. As a result of that, my encrypted Time Machine drive refuses to recognise its password (it does when I boot from USB!!!) so I have lost easy access to backups.
